Portales Woman’s Club members live our mission through a strong tradition of community service, education, and building connections to last a lifetime.

Passion for connection and community

Portales Woman’s Club belongs to the international General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). GFWC is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. As one of the largest and oldest women’s volunteer organizations, we seek to build global communities where people unite in diversity and dedicate their service to changing lives. We celebrate the engagement of people of all backgrounds and believe in fostering an inclusive, equitable climate and culture where community members thrive.

Education and Scholarship

Raising funds each year for college scholarships for women. Donating children’s books monthly to the local libraries.

Monthly Educational Programming

Informative guest speakers at PWC monthly meetings on a variety of topics.

Supporting Children and Families

Collecting, sorting and distributing donated diapers and other items, making it possible for families to buy groceries or keep the heat on.

Military Appreciation

Collaborative projects with the community to support and show appreciation for service members and their families.

Meals on Wheels Delivery

A bi-annual volunteer opportunity, delivering meals to local residents.

Fundraising for a Cause

Fun annual fundraising events in collaboration with other organizations, such as the Peanut Valley Festival Booth and Heritage Days Fun Run!

Join Us!

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month from September through May. Meetings start at 11:45 a.m. and include lunch and an informational program.

The Portales Woman’s Club Building

Our club building, located at 309 W. 1st Street in Portales, NM, is a historic treasure. It was built as part of the New Deal Works Progress Administration in the 1930’s. In addition to Portales Woman’s Club business meetings and activities, the building is available for rental or group use.
